The Tennessee Trucking Association (TTA) proudly hosts its annual “Call on Washington” event, a cornerstone activity for our members to directly engage with the Tennessee Delegation in Washington, D.C. This event offers a unique platform for industry professionals to voice their concerns, share perspectives, and stay informed about developments impacting the trucking sector.
About the Experience:
The event begins with a comprehensive policy briefing at the American Trucking Association (ATA) headquarters. This briefing prepares attendees for informed, productive conversations with elected officials and industry leaders.
What to Expect
- Discussion of key federal policy issues impacting the trucking industry
- Insight into legislative priorities and emerging policy changes
- Guidance on how to effectively communicate industry concerns
Following the briefing, participants make scheduled “calls” to Washington representatives
- Engage directly with federal representatives
- Share real-world perspectives from Tennessee’s trucking industry
- Learn how policy decisions are shaped at the national level
- Ensure TTA member voices are represented in Washington

Call on Washington Grant:
A key part of the Call on Washington experience is the participation of TTA’s Young Professionals, supported through the William H. Reed Jr. Memorial Call on Washington Grant. This grant is designed to encourage first-time attendees to take part in this influential advocacy event.
About the Grant
Established in memory of Bill Reed, a longtime advocate for the trucking industry, this scholarship helps support emerging leaders interested in attending the Call on Washington event.
- Open to TTA Young Professionals and Leading Edge participants
- Intended for first-time Call on Washington attendees
- Awarded to one or two individuals annually
- Covers travel, lodging, and meal expenses
